LIME ROCK, Conn. (July 23, 2026) – When PT Autosport formed its own racing team this season in partnership with Extreme Velocity Motorsports, contesting the Ginetta Challenge North America series, the team turned to Henry Drury – the inaugural PT Autosport Aspiring Driver Shootout winner – to coach clients and occasionally race.
“Occasionally” has translated into a ride for each of the first three race weekends, with race wins in four of eight races and a share of the points lead.
PT Autosport burst on the racing scene in 2022, backing co-founder Alex Sedgwick to top four season finishes in the 2023 and 2024 Porsche Carrera Cup North America series, and Drury the 2024 GR Cup rookie of the year title. This year, the team works with 2025 Shootout winner Luis Beilicke in the UK-based Ginetta GT Academy, and 2025 Mazda MX-5 Cup Shootout winner Max Stallone in the IMSA MX-5 Cup.
In 2013, Sedgwick competed in the Ginetta Junior Scholarship program, earning a funded seat in Ginetta Juniors for 2014, which jump started his racing career. He kept the relationship with Ginetta, which partly inspired PT Autosport’s own Aspiring Driver Shootout, and led them to deploy Ginetta-provided G56 GTA’s as the cars used at the Shootout, and to join the North American series. With PT Autosport starting a customer-based team, it was the perfect opportunity to get Drury back into a car.
“I joined the team to support our customers, mostly to give good reference data and for coaching purposes,” said Drury. “It was also a good chance to show that we had cars worthy of fighting up front and unseating the teams that have been dominating the series since it started. We won two of three races at the season opener at Lime Rock, then the Mid-Ohio weekend didn’t go quite as well, but everything came together perfectly when we returned to Lime Rock for Round 3, so I’m planning on carrying this momentum into VIR!”
The team began the weekend in good shape, with Drury able to “finally complete my Alex Sedgwick impersonation, doing three laps in qualifying then having a nap on pit lane while waiting to see if anyone could beat that.” On pole by six-tenths of a second, Drury decided to make race one a little bit difficult.
“Yeah, for some reason, I guess I decided that I was sick of having a six second lead and to just not slow down for turn one,” said Drury. “I went straight through the grass and rejoined side by side with second place, though I fought him off for the lead. In all seriousness, I just made a small mistake and was lucky to keep the position. Lesson learned, won’t be doing that again anytime soon!”
Drury started race two on pole and watched the skies, waiting for the expected rain to come in. But the race stayed dry, and after a spirited battle for the lead, pressured second place into a mistake and easily took the win.
After the weekend, Drury expressed his appreciation to the entire team for the opportunity.
“It’s really good to be back in a car, I wasn’t sure if I would race at all this year,” said Drury. “I’m endlessly grateful to PT Autosport for the opportunity to drive again, to stay sharp and continue learning. I can’t wait for the last two rounds of the championship at VIR and Barber Motorsports Park.”
For PT Autosport team principal Jason Myers, having two Shootout winners leading two different Ginetta series proves the value of the team’s Shootout concept.
“What a great weekend for Henry,” said Myers. “We’ve been having a lot of fun with the Ginetta Challenge NA series and running our two cars there with top-level support from Extreme Velocity Motorsports. We’re also running a car in the UK Academy series and it’s been great fun watching two of our shootout winners compete across the pond from each other in the same car. Henry has been really strong so far this season, with this weekend likely being his most dominant – and mirroring our sister car in the UK – with two pole positions and two P1 finishes!
