MILLVILLE, NJ (October 2, 2024) – Two weeks ago, PT Autosport w/Precision Racing LA driver Henry Drury got his first look at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, watching teammate Alex Sedgwick earn two podium finishes in the Porsche Carrera Cup North America doubleheader.

Now, the 24-year-old English born, Tampa, Fla. resident wants his own chance to experience the legendary Brickyard, behind the wheel of the No. 88 PT Autosport Toyota GR86 Cup Car in two Toyota GR Cup races as part of the SRO Indy 8-Hour weekend.

For Drury, the biggest eye opener on the IMSA weekend was the weather, which was unseasonably warm. Getting the chance to sit on the timing stand, watch data and see how quickly the track changed, and how much that affected the car’s handling, was an eye opener.

“Obviously temperature affects absolutely everything,” said Drury. “But to see it happening that dramatically – while not in the car and focused on driving – it was good to have advanced insight into that. I feel as though it gives me a little bit of a head start going into my race weekend where I can have that in the back of my mind. I have an idea of what I can expect to happen and then what tools I can use to adjust.

“And on top of that, it was magical to be in the IMSA paddock,” continued Drury. “This is the dream for most of us, so it was such an inspiration to be there, to absorb the atmosphere. Of course, this is probably the most storied racetrack in America, and it’s well up there worldwide in places like Le Mans and Monaco. And I just never expected the sheer size of it. Everyone’s grown up, seeing it on TV and dreaming of being there one day so that first day, I was walking around like a kid on Christmas.

“And then that wore off and now, I just want to have a go at it. I’ve seen it, I’m truly amazed, but I want to get into the car and really get out there.”

Coming off a difficult weekend at Barber – which had followed a podium weekend at Road America – Drury is ready to end the season on a high note. PT Autosport team principal PT Autosport team principal Jason Myers has watched Drury’s progress through the year, and looks forward to ending the GR Cup season on a high note.

“We are really excited to be back at the Brickyard for the second time in three weeks,” said Myers. “I’m excited to see how Henry drives at the storied race track. It doesn’t seem very friendly to lower horsepower cars, which I think will help emphasize his driving style and talent. Being here with IMSA two weeks ago was awesome,  and our fellow PT Autosport driver Alex Sedgwick nailed two podiums in Carrera Cup so I’m hoping for similar results from our young gun  this coming weekend in GR Cup!”

The Toyota GR Cup series will contest two 45-minute races at Indianapolis – race one will take the green flag Saturday at 9:50 a.m. ET, with race two Sunday at 11:55 a.m. Both races will be broadcast live at www.grcup.com.
